Abstract:
Kata Kunci: demam tifoid, insiden, anak, RSUP Sanglah ABSTRACTTyphoid fever is an infectious disease caused by bacilli Salmonella typhii which showedsystemic symptoms in patient. Typhoid fever still easily found in areas with poor hygiene andsanitation. Those areas are generally had tropic and sub-tropic climate. Each year, about 20million of typhoid cases are reported worldwide, while 200.000 of them ended with mortality. In Indonesia, prevalence of typhoid fever in year 2007 was up to 800 cases per 100.000population, while two-third of them attacked age group of 4 to 19 years old. Mortality rate inhospitalized patients was up to ten percent. This research was aimed to find out the frequency ofoccurrence of positive Tubex result in children who was suspected with typhoid fever andhospitalized at RSUP Sanglah. Age criteria of children is five to eleven year old, based onIndonesia Department of Health, in year 2009. Research method used is cross-sectional, while Tubex test result gathered from assessment of medical records within the period from March toSeptember 2016. The result was, from 66 medical records of hospitalized children patientssuspected with typhoid fever, eight patients had positive Tubex result. Mean age of patients was7.6 year old, gender proportion was 50% male and 50% female, parallel to popular theoriesabout typhoid fever which says there was no specific difference of typhoid fever occurrencebetween male and female. All patients diagnosed by Tubex examination, with various valuefrom +4 up to +8. Keywords: typhoid fever, incident, children, RSUP Sanglah”
