Abstract:

“ABSTRAK: Pemanfaatan gliserol dari hasil samping pembuatan biodiesel sudah banyak dilakukan seperti ditransformasi menjadi produk kimia lain yang mempunyai nilai ekonomi lebih tinggi. Pada penelitian ini gliserol tersebut akan dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pada pembuatan obat batuk gliseril guaiakolat (GG). Gliserol murni maupun yang berasal dari minyak jelantah diubah terlebih dahulu menjadi gliseril klorida melalui reaksi klorinasi, yang kemudian bereaksi dengan o-metoksifenol menjadi GG.Hasil reaksi belum memberikan hasil yang optimal sehingga obat batuk GG belum dapat dihasilkan.Kata kunci: gliserol, gliseril klorida, klorinasi, o-metoksifenol, gliseril guaiakolat. A pure glycerol or one from the biodiesel production based on waste cooking oil were transformed to glyceril chloride firstly, through the chlorination reaction, which then reacted with o-methoxyfenol to form GG.
